The Mineshaft Saloon, Broad Ripple’s Original Party Bar, opened in June of 1992, and has since set the standard for nightlife in Indianapolis. Owners Fred Treadway and Rob Sabatini went out on a limb by opening the first “Dance Bar” in Broad Ripple.

Over 10 years later, The Shaft is going strong and is only rivaled by it’s offspring, Rock Lobster and Average Joe’s Sports Pub. It’s dark atmosphere and LOUD music, along with it’s friendly bartenders and Great Drink Specials, make it a Broad Ripple Nightlife Landmark. The music format was simple. We came up with a mixture of College Radio Rock, some of our favorites from the 70′s, 80′s(Retro), and today’s hottest dance mixes.

Recently, The Shaft has seen some minor improvements. The tables by the front door have been removed and replaced with stand-up/sit-down drink rails with new barstools. The dancefloor has been tiled. And, some new lighting effects and TV’s have been added. Also a new building front, along with open-air French windows will soon be added. To some, The Shaft is the oldest of the Trifecta of bars we’ve opened. But we prefer to think of it as “Where It All Started”.
